Spartans Edge Pioneers, 2-1 in Overtime

The St. Thomas Aquinas men's soccer team beat C.W. Post, 2-1 in overtime.  Daniel Davren scored the game winning goal off a assist from Sean Reily.  Davren also assisted STAC's first goal from Joseph Connolly.  Andrew Tartara had 6 saves as the Spartans move to 11-1-1 and 4-1 in the conference.

Both teams battled for 75 scoreless minutes before the Pioneers' Joakim Ohlson headed in a throw in to put them on the scoreboard.  At 7:34 Davrens throw in attempt was headed by Connolly and bobbled off C.W. Post's keeper and into the goal to tie the game at 1-1.  Less then 2 minutes into sudden death overtime Sean Reily out hustled the charging Pioneer keeper and was able to knock the ball past him where Davren blasted it in for the win.

Connor Flynn, Peter O'Malley and William Miller played a strong all around game for the Spartans beating the Pioneers to the ball and limiting their scoring opportunities.  STAC is currently 2nd in the ECC with two more conference games remaining.  STAC will travel to St. Rose on Wednesday for a non-conference game.  The Spartans will play their final regular season home game on Saturday against Molloy.
