Golden Lions Edge Spartans in OT, 2-1

The St. Thomas Aquinas men's soccer team lost to regionally ranked Dowling College, 2-1 in overtime.  The Spartans played a hard fought game giving up a goal off a direct kick in sudden death overtime.  Daniel Davren scored for the Spartans off a cross from Sean Reily.

STAC got on the board first at the 22 minute mark as Davren connected on his 7th goal of the season.  Reily who is second on the Spartans scoring list picked up his 2nd assist for the season.  Dowling matched the Spartans goal off a corner kick as Keith Vigorito headed in the goal at the 29 minute mark.  Both teams battled it out for the second half ending regualtion in a 1-1 draw. 

Three minutes into OT Dowlings' Stefan Draskovic had a direct kick from 30 yards out that he netted into the upper right corner to end the game.  Both teams are regionally ranked with STAC at #5 in the East and Dowling 7th.  Andrew Tartara had 5 saves for STAC who move to 8-1-1. 

The Spartans will be back in action on Wednesday when they travel to Stonehill for a 4:00 PM game.
