Spartans Remain Undefeated, Flynn Scores Game Winner

The St. Thomas Aquinas men's soccer team beat St. Anselm, 3-2 on Sunday morning.  Brendan Flynn continued his strong play with a game winning goal with less then two minutes remaining.  Daniel Davren, the hot foot of the Spartans, scored STAC's first two goals.  Andrew Tartara had four stops in the win.

Davren scored his first goal (8:45) from 18 yards out to give STAC a 1-0 lead.  Justin Labonte responded for the Hawks a minute later to tie the game.  Davren struck again in the 32nd minute off an assist from Remington Lee as he delivered his shot into the top left corner of the net.  Michael Kearney headed the ball in with minutes remaining in the first half to even the score out for St. A's.

Both teams fought a defensive battle for most of the second half until Flynn blasted a ball into the net with under three minutes remaining to give STAC the 3-2 win.  Davren and Flynn combined for all of the Spartans goals for the week.  STAC remains perfect at 5-0-0 for the season and will return to action on Saturday as they face ECC opponent NYIT.  The Spartans will play the first game of a double header on Saturday at 12:30 at the North Rockland Soccer Association.
