The St. Thomas Aquinas Men's Soccer Team was recognized on Wednesday evening at the basketball doubleheader for the program's first ever trip to the NCAA Championship Tournament.  Their championship banner was unveiled and the athletes received medallions for their achievements.

Following a dinner celebration, the men's squad was called to the court where they were applauded for a great season.  Head Coach Graham Brown was presented with an NSCAA plaque while each athlete received an NCAA Championship participant medallion.  Senior Andrew Tartara was honored for his selection as an NSCAA Scholar-Athlete for his accomplishments in the classroom as well as on the field. 

The Spartans were well recognized for their outstanding 2011 campaign. STAC was paced this season by Daktronics Second Team All-East Region and First Team All-Conference players Daniel Davren and Remington Lee. Davren led the team with 24 points and a team-high eight assists while Lee was the Spartans leading goal scorer with 10 goals. Sean Reily was named to the Second Team All-ECC and contributed seven goals and four assists. Goalkeeper Andrew Tartara was also named to the Second Team All-Conference after recording 64 saves and three shutouts this season.

The Spartans finished the season 11-4-4 making their first NCAA tournament appearance in the schools history. STAC beat NYIT 4-1 in the opening round of the NCAA tournament before falling 5-0 to #1 seeded Franklin Pierce in the sweet 16.

The Spartans were ranked 21st in the nation in the final NCAA DII Men's Soccer Poll.
