The St. Thomas Aquinas men's soccer team beat Caldwell College, 7-3 this afternoon. Remington Lee scored 3 goals for STAC while Jack Legg added his first 2 goals of the season. Daniel Davren and Sean Reily each scored a goal and had 2 assists for the Spartans. In goal, Andrew Tartara recorded 1 save while Nicholas Croce had 2.
Reily gave the Spartans an early lead scoring off a free kick just minutes into action. Legg scored off a Davren throw in to give STAC a 2-0 lead in the first 10 minutes of play. The Cougars got on the scoreboard minutes later off a rebounded ball scored by Chrs Skarbellis. Legg added his second goal of the game, a little over thirty minutes in, but Caldwell would not go away quietly coming within one on as Kristopher Bistre scored off a header.
Lee knocked in the final goal of the first half off a corner kick from Reily to give STAC a 4-2 lead at the break. The Spartans scored the first three goals of the second half, all within an eight minute span of one another to go ahead, 7-2. The Cougars added a late goal in the final minutes of action making the final score, 7-3.
STAC moves to 5-0-3 with the win and will travel to Mercy on Saturday for a conference game. Saturday's game will begin at 3:00 pm.
