Spartans Too Strong for Knights

Spartans Too Strong for Knights

The St. Thomas Aquinas men's soccer team beat Gannon University, 4-1 in Saturday afternoon's game.  Daniel Davren scored one goal and assisted on the other three.  Joseph Connolly added two goals for STAC and Remington Lee had one.  Andrew Tartara had two saves for STAC.

Lee scored the Spartans first goal by heading in a long throw in by Davren.  Five minutes later Brendan Flynn kicked a long pass ahead to Davren who ended up in a breakaway situation scoring past the charging Gannon keeper to give STAC a 2-0 lead.  Tyler Hollingsworth put the Knights on the scoreboard, off a rebounded loose ball, into the right corner of the net.

Connolly connected on two goals in the second half to keep the Knights out of reach.  The first off a pass from Davren and the second he headed in another Davren throw in.  Davren leads the Spartans this season with twelve points.  Connolly has four goals for STAC this season and Lee has two.

The Spartans move to 4-0-2 on the season and will begin conference play on Saturday when they host Dowling College.
