Spartans Come From Behind to Tie Lions, 1-1

The St. Thomas Aquinas men's soccer team tied with Dowling College this afternoon, 1-1.  Edgar Barragan scored his first goal of the season, late in the second half to tie the game up.  Neither team scored through two overtime periods.  Andrew Tartara had 6 saves for STAC.

Sean Dougherty scored for the Lions off an assist from Harald Gundhus just 17 minutes into the game.  Both teams battled defensively for the remainder of the half.  Barragan's goal came with just five minutes remaining in regulation to even the score up.  Chris Kucera had 9 saves for Dowling. 

Both teams are ranked in the East Region with the Lions at #4 and the Spartans at #5.  The Spartans are now 4-0-3 and 0-0-1 in conference play.  STAC will travel to Caldwell College for a non-conference game on Tuesday at 3:30 PM.
