The St. Thomas Aquinas men's soccer team opened their season on Thursday with a 1-1 double overtime tie at Stonehill College.  Andrew Tartara had 3 saves in the game for STAC, including two key saves in the first overtime session.  The Spartans goal was an own goal that deflected off a defensive player from Stonehill.

STAC's goal came in the 29th minute when senior midfielder Sean Reilly's shot deflected off a Skyhawks defender into the net for a 1-0 lead.  The Spartans held onto the 1-0 lead until the final 4 minutes of regulation when Stonehill's Ben Zandonella scored to tie the game. 

STAC will travel to St. Anselm to play another Northeast 10, non-conference game on Saturday.
