Tartara Leads Men's Soccer to Scoreless Deadlock at Queens

Andrew Tartara recorded eight saves but 110 minutes wasn't enough to decide a winner, as the St. Thomas Aquinas College men's soccer team played to a 0-0 tie at Queens College on Thursday in an East Coast Conference match. The Spartans now stand at 2-1-2 overall and 1-0-1 in ECC play, with Queens also at 2-1-2 overall while moving to 0-0-1 in conference.

After earning conference Defensive Player of the Week honors coming off last week's victory over Dowling, Tartara had to be sharp early, making half of his saves over the first 45 minutes. He was equalled by Queens netminder Sean Geoghegan, who made three of his seven saves in overtime as STAC outshot the hosts by a 6-2 margin but were unable to convert during the 20 minutes of extra play.

Daniel Davren led the Spartans attack, recording six of their 17 shots on goal, while Danny Stoker put up five of the Knights' 11 overall shots, and corner kicks were even at 5-5.

Important Schedule note - Due to unplayable field conditions, tomorrow's soccer twin-bill has been moved to Molloy College. The games will be played at Molloy's campus in Rockville Centre with the women's match starting at 4:00, followed by the men at 6:30.

Molloy will be providing an audio broadcast as well as live stats for both games, please check the respective team's schedules for links.
