STAC Men's Soccer Finishes With 3-0 Win Over Daemen

The St. Thomas Aquinas College men's soccer team closed out the 2013 campaign with a 3-0 East Coast Conference victory over Daemen College at Spartan Field. The Spartans finish the season at 7-8-1 overall and 4-6-0 in the ECC, with Daemen falling to 4-12-1, 0-8-1.

STAC took the lead on the lone goal of the first half, as Michael Corbi scored his team-leading 10th goal of the season at 32:16, coming in alone on goal after passes from Laurie Child and Julius Werner.

Daemen, in search of its first conference win of the season, stayed close until the Spartans struck twice quickly in the second half to put the game away. Werner's header off Jack Legg's perfect corner kick at 63:54 provided an insurance goal, and the hosts rode that momentum to another marker at 66:30, when Legg converted Robert Stevens' pass to account for the final goal.

Nathan Mangione made six saves and picked up the win in the Spartan net, working the first half before giving way to Aiden Tansey, who made three saves after the break. Daniel Roemer and Matt Dadderio split the keeping duties for Daemen, combining for 15 saves as STAC outshot the visitors by a 30-17 total.
