First Half Outburst Sets Back STAC in 6-0 Men's Soccer Loss

The St. Thomas Aquinas College men's soccer team suffered a 6-0 East Coast Conference loss at Roberts Wesleyan College. RWC scored four quick first half goals to clinch the win as STAC fell to 3-4-2, 0-4-0 on the season, with the hosts improving to 5-2-2, 2-0-0.

What was an evenly-played first half changed drastically when the Redhawks unleashed a barrage midway through the session. Damien Pagano struck first at 22:25 and RWC used that momentum to add two goals from Stephen Stewart and one from Cameron Stewart in a span of just under seven minutes to give the Redhawks a commanding lead.

Second-half goals by Michael Cunningham and Alex Loete rounded out the scoring, which was one-sided in spite of the fact that the Spartans trailed in shots by only an 18-17 final count.

The Spartans will complete their trip north against Daemen College on Sunday, October 5 in a 1:30 pm start, before traveling to Queens College for another ECC showdown on October 11. They will host University of the District of Columbia on October 15 with a 3:30 pm kickoff at Spartan Field.
