Spartans End Season With 4-3 Upset Over Top Ranked Pioneers

The St. Thomas Aquinas men's soccer team handed LIU Post their first ECC loss with a 4-3 win on Saturday afternoon.  Luis Morales scored the game winning goal off an assist from Michael Corbi. Corbi also added two goals in the win. 

STAC got on the scoreboard first with a goal from Daniel Borges off an assist from Chris Estevez a little over six minutes into the game.  Harry Pearse scored back to back goals for the Pioneers to taking a 2-1 lead at the 24:47 mark.  Senior Michael Corbi scored his first goal towards the end of the first half off an assist from Ivan Gomez.  

The pioneers scored first in the second half to regain a one goal lead, 3-2.  Corbi came up with another big goal, tying the game for the second time, this time off an assist from Brad Neal, at the 83:15 mark.  Just seconds later Corbi found Morales who connected on the Spartans 4th goal and lifted them to victory over the Pioneers.  

Jack Nicholson had five saves for the Spartans who beat the Pioneers for the first time since 2010. The Pioneers move to 9-1 in ECC play while the Spartans finish their season, 5-11-1 overall.
