STAC Men's Soccer Holds off Holy Family for 2-1 victory.

The St. Thomas Aquinas College men's soccer team captured a 2-1 victory at Holy Family University in a non-conference match. Michael Corbi and Alejandro Coyt-Orozco tallied for the Spartans who improved to 2-3 on the season while HFU dropped to 0-4.

After Christopher Tracy gave the hosts a lead at the 29:50 mark, Corbi answered with his second goal in as many games at 35:13 to tie the score. With less than a minute remaining in the half, Coyt-Orozco converted to give the Spartans momentum and a 2-1 lead.

That would prove to be the difference as neither team hit the twine in a tightly-played second half. Sean Connolly played goalkeeper in the first half to earn the win for STAC, with Jack Nicholson providing a scoreless second half off the bench. St. Thomas Aquinas outshot HFU by a 12-9 margin overall.

The Spartans open their East Coast Conference schedule and close out their season-opening six-game road trip on Saturday, September 19, in a 2:30 pm start at Dowling College. They play their Home Opener at Spartan Field on Friday, September 25 against Daemen.
