STAC Men's Soccer Drops 4-1 Decision at UDC

The St. Thomas Aquinas College men's soccer team fell to a 4-1 defeat in an East Coast Conference match at the University of the District of Columbia. Michael Corbi scored the lone STAC goal but it wasn't enough to prevent the Spartans' second straight loss, falling to 3-7 overall and 1-4 in conference play this season. With the win, UDC now stands at 4-6-1, 2-3.

St. Thomas Aquinas fell into an early hole at the 8:40 mark when Elio Hernandez sent a long free kick into the box where Victor Furio provided the finish to put the hosts on top. Corbi answered at 21:15, converting Yohan Loyer's cross to even the score.

Hernandez would add what proved to be the decisive goal at 32:43, hitting the net on a direct free kick to give the Firebirds a 2-1 edge that they would carry into halftime. Moussa Traore and Mehdi Badache would add to the lead in the second half, putting the contest out of reach.

Sean Connolly made four saves in the Spartan net in absorbing the loss, as STAC was outshot by a 15-10 margin on the afternoon.

The Spartans return to action on Saturday, October 10, traveling to face Mercy College in another ECC bout. They return home on Wednesday, October 21, when conference foe University of Bridgeport visits Spartan Field.
