STAC Improves Record to 5-1 with 2-1 Overtime Victory at Daemen

The St. Thomas Aquinas College men's soccer team came away with a weekend sweep after a 2-1 overtime victory in an East Coast Conference battle at Daemen College. On Friday, STAC upended Roberts Wesleyan and Sunday's triumph improved their record to 5-1 overall, and 2-0 in conference play, with Daemen slipping to 1-7, 0-2.

STAC carried the play from the outset and got on the board at the 16:15 mark when Brad Neal converted Charlie Crane's corner kick to put the visitors on top. The Wildcats answered quickly with Ali Shawish tying the score at 20:52.

Despite holding a 24-6 advantage in shots through 90 minutes, the Spartans were unable to find the go-ahead tally as the contest headed to overtime.

After just 6:49 of play, Luis Morales was the hero of the day, scoring his sixth goal of the season on an assist from Eddie de Abreu to send STAC home happy. Jack Nicholson earned the win for St. Thomas Aquinas, his fifth of the season.

The Spartans are now 3-1 on their five-game road swing, which wraps on on Saturday in another conference clash, at Queens College. They return home to face the University of the District of Columbia on Wednesday, September 28, in a 3:00 pm kickoff.
