The St. Thomas Aquinas College men's soccer team rallied to a 5-1 victory over Nyack College behind two Charlie Crane goals and four assists from Alejandro Coyt-Orozco at Spartan Field. STAC earned its second straight home victory to start the season, while Nyack fell to 1-1 overall. 

Deft passing gave the Spartans the early territorial advantage, but it was Nyack that got on the board first on an unassisted tally from Francois Legodec at 10:01. Shaken but not deterred, STAC regained the momentum and struck the decisive blows with three quick goals over a span of 3:41 in the waning minutes of the first half.

Coyt-Orozco's long feed was punched out by Nyack netminder Wiktor Lasorta, but Crane was on the spot to bury the rebound and deadlock the score at the 38:14 mark. Just over two minutes later, the Spartans scored their first of four straight off set pieces, with Kenny Caraballo's finish off a pretty Coyt-Orozco pass giving the hosts the lead for good.

Brian Kinsella was on the spot, as his back-post run finished another offering from Coyt-Orozco at 41:55, and St. Thomas Aquinas carried a 3-1 gap into the locker room.

Crane netted his second of the game at 63:30, striking his direct free kick from just outside the box perfectly into the top corner past a helpless Lasorta to make the score 4-1. At 69:56, Coyt-Orozco performed his magic again, as a free kick from 35 yards out was headed neatly into the corner by Pierrefranc Simonetti to close out the scoring.

Coming off his clean sheet on Opening Day, Jack Nicholson allowed just the one goal in his 77 minutes of play before giving way to Cameron Turner to finish up. STAC held by far the better of the play in the impressive decision, outshooting their visitors by a 15-7 margin.

The Spartans will now play their next five straight on the road, starting on Wednesday at Goldey Beacom and including their East Coast Conference opener at Roberts Wesleyan on September 16. They will return to Sparkill to host the University of the District of Columbia in another ECC match on Wednesday, September 28.
