The St. Thomas Aquinas College men's soccer team fell to a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Queens College in an East Coast Conference match at Spartan Field. The Spartans are now 4-5-1 overall on the season and 2-2 in ECC play, with Queens improving to 4-4-1, 1-2-1.

Queens wasted little time in getting on the board when Christian Villalta shook off a pair of STAC defenders in the penalty area, and sent a touch to Sayufane Ilboudo, whose contest shot barely trickled into the net at 3:12 to put the visitors on top. The Spartans carried most of the play for the remainder of the first half, outshooting the Knights by an 8-2 count, yet Queens held that one-goal edge through 45 minutes.

STAC continued to press in the second half but the tying goal remained elusive, and Queens took advantage with time winding down. Andras Breuer sent a long cross to Paul Hayes who completed the scoring from in close at 76:27, sending the Spartans to defeat despite a 12-7 overall shots advantage. Chidiebere Iloka made five saves to earn the shutout for the visitors.

With the cancellation of the scheduled home game against Washington Adventist on October 12, the Spartans will now play their next two games on the road, starting with an ECC battle at Roberts Wesleyan on Saturday, October 7. They will travel to take on NYIT in another conference tilt one week later, on Saturday, October 14, before returning to Spartan Field to host Molloy on Wednesday, October 18.
