Neal's Early Tally Lifts Men's Soccer to 1-0 Shutout at Roberts Wesleyan

The St. Thomas Aquinas College men's soccer team captured a 1-0 victory in an East Coast Conference match-up at Roberts Wesleyan College. The Spartans are now 5-5-1 overall on the season and 3-2-0 in ECC play, with Roberts dropping to 3-9-0, 1-4-0.

STAC wasted little time in getting on the board, as Ivan Dam's cross found Brad Neal, who hit the top corner of the net to provide the Spartans a 1-0 lead after just 6:08 of play. From there, the game settled into a defensive struggle, with St. Thomas Aquinas holding a 4-3 lead in shot at the half, and 12-6 for the game overall.

Jack Nicholson was called upon to make just one save in earning the clean sheet, as STAC's defense locked down the host Redhawks. John Ciaviglia kept RWC in the contest with five saves in absorbing the loss.

With the cancellation of Thursday's scheduled home contest against Washington Adventist, the Spartans will now be off until next Saturday, October 14, travelling to NYIT for an ECC showdown. They will then play the first of three straight at Spartan Field when Molloy visits on Wednesday, October 18.
