Men's Soccer Falls to 3-0 Defeat in ECC Match at Roberts Wesleyan

The St. Thomas Aquinas College men's soccer team dropped a 3-0 decision in an East Coast Conference contest at Roberts Wesleyan College in Rochester, NY. The Spartans are now 0-5-1 overall on the season and 0-2 in ECC action, with Roberts Wesleyan improving to 3-4-1, 1-0.

STAC found itself in an early hole when Dylan Ruiz netted his fifth goal of the season after just 7:48, with Terrell Spencer picking up the assist. Despite being outshot by an 8-3 margin, the Spartans kept the deficit to one goal through halftime, and well into the second half before the hosts finally broke through for the insurance tally.

Juan Ospina-Betancurt hit the mark at 71:04 to provide some cushion before assisting on Ruiz' second of the game with just 1:03 left on the clock to seal the win. The Redhawks carried a narrow 17-13 shots advantage on the day, with STAC's Cameron Turner making four saves in net.

The Spartans return home on Wednesday, October 2, hosting Millersville for a non-conference tilt with a 2:30 pm start at Spartan Field. They return to ECC play on Saturday, October 5, traveling to take on NYIT in a noon start.
