STAC Falls to Millersville in Men's Soccer, 1-0

The St. Thomas Aquinas College men's soccer team fell to a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Millersville University in a non-conference game at Spartan Field. The Spartans now stand at 0-6-1 on the season, while Millersville improved to 4-3-1.

STAC came out firing in the early minutes, putting the first four shots of the game on net, including a strong chance by Lachlan Wilkinson, but the game remained scoreless. With temperatures soaring in the 90s, the weather took a sudden turn with a downpour midway through the first half that cooled the temperatures, and Millersville turned the momentum, recording 10 of the game's next 11 shots.

Though the first half ended without a goal, the Marauders changed that quickly after the break, as Spencer Shortt's perfect corner kick was headed home by Bobby Wells just 3:47 into the second half. Millersville outshot STAC by a 14-7 margin on the day as the hosts failed to hit the net for the third straight contest.

The Spartans return to East Coast Conference action this Saturday, October 5, traveling to face NYIT. They return home one week later, playing host to Molloy on October 12 in a 1:00 pm start.
