The St. Thomas Aquinas College fell to a heartbreaking 3-2 loss against Molloy College in an East Coast Conference battle at Spartan Field. The Spartans are now 0-8-1 overall and 0-4 in the ECC, with Molloy improving to 5-4-1, 2-2.

STAC carried the play from the opening minutes and finally broke through when Sung Min Cho found the net for his second of the season at 37:54. With less than a minute remaining in the half, Molloy posted the equalizer as Kenneth Garcia's corner kick found Anthony Cestaro before Nick Biglin converted at 44:04, tying the game at 1-1 at intermission.

Another corner kick led to Biglin's second of the afternoon, on assists from Paul Morales and Cestaro at 64:13 to give the Lions their first lead at 2-1. The Spartans responded quickly on a corner of their own, with Federico Scaglioni hitting Anthony Bolivar Sanchez, whose conversion at 67:16 brought the hosts back even at 2-2. That score held until Molloy was issued a penalty kick, with Morales coming through with the deciding goal at 77:14.

Though STAC continued to press, they were unable to break through, ending the contest with a decisive 24-14 advantage in shots in one of the squad's best performances of the season. Goalkeeper Sergio Perralta came through for Molloy, with 11 saves after coming into the game in the 25th minute, while Cameron Turner made three saves for St. Thomas Aquinas.

The Spartans play their next two on the road, traveling to take on Mercy College in an ECC tilt at 3:00 pm on Wednesday, October 16, before heading to the University of the District of Columbia on Saturday, October 19. They will then play their last five games at Spartan Field, starting with a 2:30 pm affair against Bloomfield College on Tuesday, October 22.
