STAC Men's Soccer Shuts Out Bloomfield, 2-0
Sparkill, N.Y. - In the midst of a season-long six-game homestand, the St. Thomas Aquinas College Men's Soccer team ran past the Bloomfield Bears for a 2-0 victory on Tuesday afternoon at Spartan Field in Sparkill.

How it Happened
The Spartans jumped on the Bears from the very first whistle, using a steady attack to create a number of early scoring chances. Jorge Umana, Ryan Collins and Juan Pablo Cedeno Varea helped lead STAC into the Bears zone and create the first six shots of the contest for the Spartans.

On the seventh chance, Joel Hofstetter was able to collect a pass from Jorge Umana and make a series of moves before finding putting the ball off of the right post and in behind Bloomfield keeper Robert Kornel for STAC's first goal of the match.

STAC controlled the tempo for the rest of the half thanks in large part to outstanding efforts from the defense and goalkeeper Felix Davies.

In the second half, the Spartans got some insurance off the head of Marlon Rowe, when he scored his first of the season off of long shot from Jorge Umana to make it 2-0 in favor of the maroon and gold.

The defense once again held on strong down the stretch, holding off the Bloomfield surge, as the visitors put up seven shots in the stanza with one kick going high over the net, three being stopped by Davies and another three being blocked by the Spartan backend to keep the zero on the Bears side of the scoreboard and secure STAC's third win of the season.
