
Lakewood, N.J. - St. Thomas Aquinas College's Kevon Evans continued his goal scoring barrage on opponents Tuesday, as the senior forward struck twice more against Georgian Court University, in a 3-1 road victory at Investors Savings Bank Field.
STAC moves to 2-0 on the season, while Georgian Court slips to 0-2-1.
The Spartans also got scoring from Uhunoma Fredrick-Ilekhuoba, while between the sticks Dalton Houser got his first start for the maroon and gold and allowed just one goal on six shots faced to improve his record to 2-0-0.
For the host Lions, Alessandro Cavallini tallied the team's lone goal, with Ayendi Batista (L, 0-2-0) making one save on four shots in a losing effort.
How it Happened
- 1st Minute: Georgian Court netted the opening goal of the match. Svante Haakansson flicked a ball to Maurice Engl who one timed it up the field in a perfect spot for Alessandro Cavallini who dribbled and beat Spartans keeper Dalton Houser to make it 1-0.
- 3rd Minute: Moments later, St. Thomas Aquinas knotted the game at one goal apiece on a Lions turnover, as Mike Leue sent a through ball to a breaking Uhunoma Fredrick-Ilekhuoba. Fredrick-Ilekhuoba went one-on-one with GCU netminder Aydeni Batista and slipped a soft shot under the keeper, to the back of the net.
- 10th Minute: Kevon Evans' first goal of the match and fourth of the year came via another Georgian Court turnover, as a clear attempt by Ayendi Batista was stolen and Yahir Hernandez found Evans moving up field and toward the goal. Kevon fired a shot home to put the Spartans up 2-1.
- 69th Minute: STAC's final goal of the match came on yet another Lions turnover, with the ball being sent up field to surging Kevon Evans who won a foot race and beat several Georgian Court defenders to lace a one-timer past Batista for his second of the day and fifth of season, extending the Spartans advantage to 3-1.
