Men's Soccer Drops First ECC Match, 2-1 To Roberts Wesleyan

Rochester, N.Y. - A pair of late second half goals by Roberts Wesleyan University sent the St. Thomas Aquinas College Men's Soccer team to its first East Coast Conference defeat, a 2-1 setback, on Saturday at Redhawks Field in Western New York.

STAC slips to 6-3-2 overall and 1-1-2 in ECC play, while Roberts Wesleyan improves to 5-4-1 and 3-2-0.

Sebastian Guerrero and Tamas Nagy each tallied goals for the Redhawks, as goalkeeper Eric Jewson (W, 4-1-0) turned away four of five shots faced to earn the win.

Meanwhile, Uhunoma Fredrick-Ilekhuoba scored the lone goal for the Spartans. Keeper Johan Morales (2-2-2) made three stops on five shots for St. Thomas Aquinas.

How it Happened

Sixth Minute: An offensive rush by the Spartans saw Kevon Evans send a feed to teammate Uhunoma Fredrick-Ilekhuoba who bent a shot inside of the left post, beating keeper Eric Jewson to make it 1-0 for the visitors from Sparkill.

75th Minute: Tamas Nagy led the charge upfield for Roberts Wesleyan and slipped a pass to Sebastian Guerrero, who than raced past a Spartans defender and fired a shot past Johan Morales to tie the match at 1-1.

77th Minute: Moments later, the Redhawks broke the stalemate on another offensive rush with Jack Hopson sending a through ball to Tamas Nagy who beat two defenders and sent a soft shot under Morales and to the back of the net to take a 2-1 lead.
