
Sparkill, N.Y. - The St. Thomas Aquinas College Men's Soccer team suffered only its second defeat of the 2024 season, a 4-1 setback to Bloomsburg University on Wednesday afternoon at Spartan Field
STAC falls to 6-2-2 on the season, while Bloomsburg improves to 7-2-1.
Kody Besser, Anthony Schlee, Owen Hollobaugh and Alex Wilsterman each tallied goals for the visiting Huskies, as goalkeeper Brady Rimple (W, 6-2-1) turned away three of four shots faced to earn the win. Peter Punchello also saw action in the final 10 minutes of the match, and with the game in hand. Punchello faced no shots.
Meanwhile, Uhunoma Fredrick-Ilekhuoba scored the lone goal for the Spartans. Keeper Johan Morales made seven stops on 11 shots for St. Thomas Aquinas.
How it Happened
16th Minute: A corner kick by the Huskies' Braden Alicea found the head of teammate Kody Besser for the flick on goal, beating keeper Johan Morales to make it 1-0 for the visitors.
26th Minute: Rafael Capella's corner kick for the Spartans ping-ponged off of the heads of both Kevon Evans and Uhunoma Fredrick-Ilekhuoba before reaching the back of the net, solving goalie Brady Rimple to tie the match at 1-1.
27th Minute: Moments later, Quaid Molino sent a feed to the front of the net, finding Anthony Schlee for the quick strike to break the tie and give Bloomsburg a 2-1 lead.
50th Minute: Off of a Huskies throw-in, Braden Alicea chipped a pass to the foot of Owen Hollobaugh for a shot that beat a diving Morales at the left post to put the visitors up by two, 3-1.
75th Minute: A free kick by Anthony Schlee found the head of Alex Wilsterman for the redirection past Morales at the left post to give Bloomsburg a commanding 4-1 advantage.
