Sparkill, N.Y. - The St. Thomas Aquinas College Men's Soccer team kicked off its East Coast Conference schedule on Saturday afternoon, battling to a scoreless draw with Daemen University at Spartan Field in the Lower Hudson Valley.

The stalemate pushes STAC to 5-1-1 overall and 0-0-1 in the ECC, while Daemen moves to 3-2-2 and 0-1-1.

How it Happened

  • Rafael Capella led STAC with a game-high four total shots, while Kevan Evans and James Ray recorded three shots apiece in the match.
  • Quality scoring chances from Spartans Franco Israel (1), Francisco Degiorgi (1), Sebastian Ortega (1), Capella (1) and Nicolas Pavlou (1) were all turned away by Daemen keeper Arturo Bustamante (T, 3-2-2). 
  • Calvin Kron (1), Gaetan Francois (1), Joshua Choi (1), Vincent Ranieri (1) and Jean Tilo (1) all reached the net with shot opportunities for the Wildcats, which were each stopped by STAC netminder Johan Morales (T, 1-0-1).
