Spartan Tennis Raises Funds For Hurricane Sandy Relief

On Tuesday, December 4th, the St. Thomas Aquinas Men's Tennis Team brought their fellow classmates together to help raise money for those effected by Hurricane Sandy by hosting a 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament.

The tournament, held in Aquinas Hall, featured eight teams playing head to head in a series of round robin half court games. At the end of the evening, the two teams with the most number of wins squared off in a twenty minute, full court championship game. The members of winning team were also awarded prizes for their victory.

The Spartan Tennis Team raised $150.00 through $10 team entry fees and assorted fan donations. All proceeds from the fundraiser will be sent to the St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church Parish in Rockaway Beach. Rockaway Beach was one of the towns especially hard hit by Hurricane Sandy and these funds will help parishioners and community members with the recovery process.
