Spartans Beat Regionally Ranked Post University, 5-2

SPARKILL, NY - In a match up of regionally ranked men's tennis foes, the #6 St. Thomas Aquinas Spartans bested the #7 Post University Eagles, 5-2.  The match saw four singles matches go to a third set, while Paul Voigt '21 (Cologne, Germany) continued his stellar play by winning the clinching point at third singles in another three set thriller.

After the Spartans took the doubles point, freshman Marcel Volz '22 (Iffezheim, Germany) made it 2-0 by winning in straight sets at first singles.  Post would make it interesting with a win at fourth singles, but Tim Fleerkamp '20 (Waalre, Netherlands) would make it 3-1 in favor of the Spartans with a third set victory at second singles, setting up Voigt for the clincher.  Enej Hasicevic '20 (Palma de Mallorca, Spain) would make it 5-1 for the Spartans with a win at fifth singles, and Post would win a three set marathon at sixth singles to put the final score at 5-2.

The Spartans are next up against PSAC opponent Kutztown University on Thursday.  First serve is set for 3 PM, weather permitting.
