Middlebury, Conn. - The St. Thomas Aquinas College Men's Tennis team registered its third straight shutout, blanking Post University, 7-0 on Saturday morning at the Edgewood Bath and Tennis Club. STAC improves to 13-7, while Post falls to 6-14 on the year.
STAC opened the day, taking two out of three matches in doubles play to secure the first team point. The duo of Odysseas Papaioannou and Maximilian Kendler captured a 6-4 victory at No. 3, followed by the No. 1 pair of Eduard Simo and Ludovico Truffelli taking a 7-6 (1) win.
Once the Spartans secured their initial point, there was no turning back. St. Thomas Aquinas jumped right into singles play, taking all six matches from the Eagles to secure their third straight triumph. Eduard Simo picked up a 6-4, 6-1 victory at No. 2, followed by Lennart Lehmann's win 6-3, retired at the No. 3 spot. Maximilian Kendler posted a 6-2, 6-2 triumph at No. 1, with Ivan Laiz taking the No. 6 match 6-3, 6-0. Odysseas Papaioannou (7-5, 6-4) and Ludovico Truffelli (7-6 (4), 6-0) posted wins in the No. 4 and No. 5 positions, respectively to help sweep all of the individual contests.
