West Chester, Pa. - The St. Thomas Aquinas College Men's Tennis team extended its win-streak to three matches, in dominant fashion Wednesday afternoon, shutting out West Chester University of Pennsylvania in a 7-0 road contest.
STAC opened things up with a dominant performance in doubles play, taking three straight matchups to secure the team doubles point. The duo of Lennart Lehmann and Valentin Baranyi cruised to a 6-0 victory at No. 3, followed by Julius Upel and Ivan Laiz taking a 6-0 win at the No. 1 position. Maximilian Kendler and Ludovico Truffelli closed things out with a 6-0 triumph.
Once the Spartans secured the doubles point, there was no turning back. St. Thomas Aquinas jumped right into singles play, taking all six singles matches from West Chester to secure a win on the day. Lennart Lehmann started the victory spree in the No. 2 slot, taking a 6-0, 6-1 victory from Chris Succi. Maximilian Kendler followed the trend taking a 6-0, 6-0 victory in the No. 1 slot from Andre Zequeira to give the Spartans a 3-0 lead roughly halfway through the afternoon. Tony Khamassi took a 6-1, 6-1 win in the No. 6 spot to clinch the overall team victory, opening the door for No. 3 Julius Upel (Win: 6-2, 6-0), No. 4 Ivan Laiz (Win: 6-0, 6-2) and No. 5 Valentin Baranyi (Win: 6-3, 6-1) to keep the shutout victory intact.
