Orlando, Fla. - The St. Thomas Aquinas College Men's Tennis team got back on track, in dominant fashion Thursday afternoon, shutting out Bentley University 7-0.
STAC opened things up with a dominant performance in doubles play, taking three straight matchups to secure the team doubles point. The duo of Eduard Simo and Ludovico Truffelli cruised to a 6-2 victory at No. 1, followed by Tony Khamassi and Odysseas Papaioannou taking a 7-3 win at the No. 2 position. Valentin Baranyi and Julius Upel closed things out with a 7-6 triumph.
Once the Spartans secured the doubles point, there was no turning back. St. Thomas Aquinas jumped right into singles play, taking all six singles matches from Bentley to secure a win on the day. Maximilian Kendler started the victory spree in the No. 1 slot, taking a 6-1, 6-2 victory. Odysseas Papaioannou followed the trend taking a 6-3, 6-5 victory in the No. 4 slot to give the Spartans a commanding 3-0 lead roughly halfway through the afternoon. Julius Upel took a 6-2, 6-1 win in the No. 6 spot to clinch the overall team victory, opening the door for No. 2 Eduard Simo (Win: 6-4, 7-5 (3)), No. 5 Ludovico Truffelli (Win: 7-6 (3), 6-1) and No. 3 Lennart Lehmann (Win: 6-4, 6-1) to keep the shutout victory intact.
