Orangeburg, N.Y. - The St. Thomas Aquinas College Men's Tennis team got back on track, in dominant fashion Saturday afternoon, shutting out Manhattanville College 7-0 at Match Point Tennis Club.
STAC opened things up with a dominant performance in doubles play, taking three straight matchups to secure the team doubles point. The duo of Lennart Lehmann and Valentin Baranyi cruised to a 6-1 victory at No. 2, followed by Tony Khamassi and Ivan Laiz taking a 6-1 win at the No. 3 position. Maximilian Kendler and Odysseas Papaioannou closed things out with another 6-1 triumph.
Once the Spartans secured the doubles point, there was no turning back. St. Thomas Aquinas jumped right into singles play, taking all six singles matches from Manhattanville to secure a win on the day. Ludovico Truffelli started the victory spree in the No. 3 slot, taking a 6-0, 6-0 victory from Luis Gonzalez. Lennart Lehmann followed the trend taking a 6-0, 6-0 victory in the No. 2 slot from Ryan Rosenberg to give the Spartans a commanding 3-0 lead roughly halfway through the afternoon. Ivan Laiz took a 6-1, 6-1 win from Weston Goodwin in the No. 4 spot to clinch the overall team victory, opening the door for No.6 Tony Khamassi (Win: 6-2, 6-0), No. 5 Valentin Baranyi (Win: 6-0, 6-2) and No. 1 Odysseas Papaioannou (Win: 6-3, 6-0) to keep the shutout victory intact.
