Kissimmee, Fla. - The St. Thomas Aquinas College Men's Tennis team opened its four match Spring Break Florida tour with a 7-0 shutout victory over Quincy University on Monday afternoon.
STAC opened things up taking two out of three matchups to secure the team doubles point. The duo of Tony Khamassi and Odysseas Papaioannou took a 6-3 victory at No. 1, followed by ECC Player of the Week Eduard Simo and Rookie of the Week Ludovico Truffelli taking a 6-2 win at the No. 2 position.
Once the Spartans secured the doubles point, there was no turning back. St. Thomas Aquinas jumped right into singles play, taking all six matches from Quincy to secure a team win on the day. Maximilian Kendler beat Ettore Pavesi (6-2, 6-4), Eduard Simo defeated Samuele Contestabile (7-6/4, 7-5), Lennart Lehmann dispatched Brendan Everhart (6-2, 6-4), Odysseas Papaioannou bested Pablo Mateos Niella (6-2, 6-4), Ivan Laiz defeated Ivan Mimica (6-3, 6-1) and Valentin Baranyi was victorious over Erik Weiler (7-6/4, 7-5).
