Sparkill, N.Y. – The St. Thomas Aquinas College Men's Tennis team defeated the University of the Sciences, 5-2 in a non-conference fall match on Sunday afternoon at the Riley Family Tennis Courts in Sparkill.
The Spartans took the valuable doubles point from the Rams on the strength of victories by the teams of Maximilian Kendler & Ludovico Truffelli 6-0 and Lennart Lehmann & Valentin Baranyi 6-3.
St. Thomas Aquinas went on to grab the first three singles points with wins at No. 4 (Ludovico Truffelli 6-0, 6-3), No. 3 (Julius Upel 6-4, 6-2) and No. 1 (Maximilian Kendler 6-3, 6-2), which would clinch the overall victory for STAC. After USciences would get on the scoreboard with a win at No. 2 singles, Ivan Laiz would post a 6-2, 6-1 triumph at the No. 6 position, with the visitors closing things out with a 6-3, 6-7 (5), 0-1 (5) win at No. 5.
