Boyds, Md. - Inclement weather in the Washington, D.C. area forced the St. Thomas Aquinas College Men's Tennis team to move indoors for their final match 2022-2023 regular season. However, a change of venues would not deter the maroon and gold from checking off one of their campaign goals, an ECC Regular Season title.
STAC went on to defeat the University of the District of Columbia, 6-1 at the Montgomery TennisPlex. The victory gives the Spartans a share of the ECC Regular Season Championship with Queens College, the first in program history.
St. Thomas Aquinas improves to 17-1 overall and 5-1 in the ECC, while UDC falls to 5-12 and 1-4.
Tobias Fuerschuss and Ondrej Sramek each went 2-0 on the day, winning both their doubles and singles contests over the Firebirds. In addition, Alberto Espinosa Navarro was named the Most Impactful Player of today's match by the STAC Coaching Staff.

"Moving indoors was an adjustment for us but it was probably a good thing, and good preparation, being that the ECC tournament is, once again, indoors next week in the Queens bubble."
"I am happy for Alberto", remarked Rockhill. "He had the moment of the day for sure as he made three or four unbelievable gets during the same point, which helped him go on to win seven points in a row at an important time in the match. As a result, he was named the MIP by the staff."
"It has been a great regular season and now we need to keep healthy and have a great week of practice as we turn our attention to the post season", said Rockhill. "The ECC is loaded with good teams, so to win the conference championship it will take a huge effort. I am looking forward to seeing how the team handles itself."
