Henry Ronnberg has been named the East Coast Conference Men's Tennis Rookie of the Week on Monday, following the Spartans 3-0 week with wins against Adelphi, District of Columbia and Dominican.
Ronnberg (Ahus, Sweden) went 6-0 in singles and doubles in a 3-0 week for the Spartans. In doubles, Ronnberg teamed up with Seth Newman at the No. 3 position to take down Adelphi's Viktor Hockl and Thiago Negrao, 6-2, then UDC's Juan Estevez Hernandez and Antonio Simo Durall, 6-1, and finally Dominican's Jorge Catala and Ander Cantero Sadaba, 6-3.
In singles action, the STAC freshman downed the Panthers’ Hugo Munoz Reinoso 1-6, 6-4, 6-1 at No. 4, the Firebirds’ Mauricio Corty (UDC) 6-4, 6-2 at No. 5 and the Chargers’ Qalib Bahadurali Ladhani 6-2, 6-1 at No. 3.
STAC (11-6, 2-2 ECC) closes out its 2023-2024 regular season schedule, hosting Daemen University in a doubleheader at the Riley Family Tennis Courts on Saturday, April 21. The Spartans and Wildcats will get underway with match one at 12:00 p.m., followed by match two around 4:00 p.m.
