Men's Tennis Drops Third Straight Match, Loses 6-1 to Queens

Flushing, N.Y. - The St. Thomas Aquinas College Men's Tennis team returned to action on Monday afternoon, following a 10-day break and the team's Florida spring break tour, visiting Queens College for an East Coast Conference tilt at the QC Tennis Bubble. In the battle between conference foes, the host Knights handed the Spartans their third straight defeat, a 6-1 decision.

STAC slips to 6-5 overall and 1-1 in ECC play, while Queens improves to 4-2 and 2-0.

STAC kicked off the day by taking two of three doubles matches. #3 Henry Ronnberg and Seth Newman scored a 6-2 victory over Roni Rikkonen and David Cerne. However, the host Knights were quick to answer, as #1 Lucas Foix Sotos and Tim Andersson took down Nathan Yacar and Don Vinz Lominoque to even things at one match apiece. THE ROCKHILL REPORT

"Queens is very good", remarked Head Coach Dan Rockhill. "In addition, it was obvious that they wanted to win this match far more than we did. We lost the battle in all facets of the game unfortunately. Coach (Somadi) Drucker has her team well-prepared, and I respect the way they competed today. We can certainly learn a lot from them."

"I am excited, however, to see how good our team can get if it decides to put in the effort necessary to compete with the teams at the collegiate level", stated Rockhill. "I believe that when we begin to practice and prepare correctly, the results will follow."
