Flushing, N.Y. - St. Thomas Aquinas College made its way out to the QC Tennis Center on Saturday to do battle with the Regular Season Champions Queens College in the Finals of the East Coast Conference Men's Tennis Tournament. Despite putting forth a valiant effort against the Knights, STAC came up short in its quest for a second ECC title in the last three seasons, falling to Queens 4-1.
STAC moves to 14-7 on the season and now awaits the seedings in the NCAA Division II Men's Tennis Tournament, which gets underway with regional play on May 13-14 at selected campus sites. Meanwhile, Queens improves to 15-6, winning its second straight championship and sixth crown in the last eight seasons (2020 Season cancelled due to COVID-19 Pandemic). Under an agreement struck between the East Coast Conference and Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference this season, The Knights will now face the winner of the CACC Tournament (Jefferson University or Chestnut Hill College) in a match to determine who receives an automatic bid into the NCAA Division II dance. That bout will take place on May 4 at the Queens College Tennis Center.
