
Orlando, Fla. - The St. Thomas Aquinas College Men's Tennis team opened its annual Sunshine State spring break tour by taking down Bentley University, 5-2 on Monday evening.
STAC improves to 5-2 overall with its third straight victory, while Bentley slips to 4-7 on the year.
STAC opened the contest, taking the doubles point from the Falcons on the strength of victories in #3 doubles (Seth Newman & Henry Ronnberg def. Ansh Chadha & Diego Ramos), 6-3 and then #1 doubles (Ludovico Truffelli & Ondrej Sramek def. Gabe Horwitz & Nikolai Pran), 6-4.
In singles action, the Spartans took three consecutive wins to clinch the team triumph. Seth Newman started the victory spree in the No. 3 slot, taking a victory 6-1, 6-0 victory from Nikolai Pran. Henry Ronnberg followed the trend taking a 6-2, 6-2 triumph in the No. 4 slot from Christian Duffy to give the Spartans a commanding 3-0 lead roughly halfway through the afternoon. Alberto Espinosa Navarro took a 6-4, 6-1 win over Liam Marr in the No. 5 spot. Lennart Lehmann added a victory to the Spartans totals with a 6-1, 6-1 finish over Diego Ramos.
Henry Ronnberg and Seth Newman each went 2-0 on the day, winning their doubles and singles matches.
