
West Chester, Pa. - The St. Thomas Aquinas College Men's Tennis team continued its fall season, downing West Chester University, 6-1 on Tuesday afternoon at the WCU Tennis Courts.
STAC moves to 1-0 overall, while West Chester slips to 0-3 on the year.
The Spartans claimed the doubles point via by winning the first two matchups, as No. 2 Alberto Espinosa Navarro & Ivan Laiz downed Andres Urrutia & Mateus DeVasconcellos, 6-1, followed by No. 1 Don Vinz Lominoque & Ondrej Sramek besting Brady Burns & Felix Weber, 6-2. West Chester's No. 3 pair of Lucas Henke & Voyin Markovic beat Henry Ronnberg & Miguel Angel Real Jimenez, 7-3.
No. 4 Nathan Yacar was the first winner in singles, claiming his match 6-1, 6-0 over Felix Weber. Lorenzo Meschini next won at No. 3 singles against Brady Burns by the score of 6-2, 6-0 to give STAC a commanding 3-0 advantage. The Spartans picked up a win at No. 1 singles, as Seth Newman earned a 6-0, 6-3 over Lucas Henke to clinch the match. No. 5 Nagamitsu Kuroda vs. Devin McBride (6-3, 6-0), No. 2 Erik Victor Tauson vs. Andres Urrutia (6-2, 6-1) also earned wins for St. Thomas Aquinas. The Golden Rams lone victory came at No. 6, as Sam Robertson defeated Kylan Feruglio, 7-6 (6), 6-1.
