STAC Men's Tennis Rolls To 7-0 Victory Over Manhattanville

Orangeburg, N.Y. - The St. Thomas Aquinas College Men's Tennis team won its second straight match on Saturday evening, rolling to a 7-0 blanking of Manhattanville University at Match Point Tennis Club in Rockland County.

STAC improves to 4-1 on the season, while Manhattanville drops to 1-2.

The Spartans opened things up with a dominant performance in doubles play, taking three straight matchups to secure the team doubles point. The duo of Nagamitsu Kuroda and Alberto Espinosa Navarro cruised to a 6-0 victory over Lev Uitterhoeve & Mario Alcala at No. 1, followed by Seth Newman and Miguel Angel Real Jimenez taking a 6-2 win at the No. 2 position against John Curtin and Derwin Guzman. THE ROCKHILL REPORT

"It was a good night for STAC Tennis," said Head Coach Dan Rockhill. "It was wonderful to have many friends and family in attendance to support the team. This program is about relationships and it has consistently taken a village to achieve our success."

"Unfortunately, Manhattanville was shorthanded but we gained what we needed from this match. I am happy for Kylan and Miguel, tonight’s Most Impactful Player. They have been working hard in practice and it showed. Both have improved significantly so it was nice for them to get the payoff in a match situation. Mitsu was also impressive as he did not lose a game in either of his matches. He is a top of the lineup talent and I am excited for his STAC future."

"Most coaches understand that winning is not easy so it was enjoyable to celebrate together after the match," stated Rockhill.
