
New Rochelle, N.Y. - The St. Thomas Aquinas College Men's Volleyball team opened a two-match weekend road trip, by taking a 3-1 Friday evening decision from Monroe College at Monroe Athletic Complex in Westchester County.
STAC moves to 4-10 overall, following the non-conference decision, while Monroe falls to 13-3.

How it Happened
- As a team, STAC recorded 50 kills compared to Monroe's 46. The Spartans also had a 9.5 blocks and 46 assists, while the Mustangs tallied 3.5 blocks and 38 assists.
- St. Thomas Aquinas outhit Monroe by a .267 to .171 margin for the match.
- Kyran Versteegen (Sittard, Netherlands) paced the Spartans offense with a match-high 16 kills on Friday. He also registered one service ace, five digs, two solo blocks and a block assist.
- Joaquin La Jara (Lima, Peru) tallied 25 serve assists (6.25 assists/set). La Jara also accumulated a kill, two service aces and a team-high seven digs for the maroon and gold.
- Gabriel Vieira (Belo Horizonte, Brazil) recorded 11 kills, along with a service ace, three digs and a block assist.
- Nicholas Santos (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) tallied six kills and four digs for the Spartans.
- David Weiss (Oyten, Germany) picked up a service ace, a dig, four solo blocks and a block assist on the evening.
- Cesar Contreras (Long Beach, Calif.) tallied five kills, a service ace and two digs for STAC.

St. Thomas Aquinas will have a quick turnaround, as the maroon and gold head to Massachusetts for a Saturday evening (March 2) non-conference tilt with Merrimack College. The Spartans and Warriors get underway at 7:00 p.m. inside of Hammel Court in North Andover.
