Hillburn, N.Y. - The St. Thomas Aquinas College Men's Volleyball team opened a two-match weekend series with Roberts Wesleyan University on Friday evening by taking a 3-0 sweep of the visiting Redhawks in the non-conference bout at the Joseph T. St. Lawrence Community Center (Torne Valley).
STAC improves to 2-9 on the season, while Roberts Wesleyan slips to 4-8 on the year.

How it Happened
- As a team, STAC recorded 35 kills compared to Roberts Wesleyan's 26. The Spartans also had a five blocks and 35 assists, while the Redhawks tallied three blocks and 26 assists.
- St. Thomas Aquinas outhit Roberts Wesleyan by a .168 to .115 margin for the match.
- Gabriel Vieira (Belo Horizonte, Brazil) paced the Spartans offense with a match-high ten kills on Friday. He also registered three service aces, five digs and two block assists.
- Kyran Versteegen (Sittard Netherlands) recorded a team-high seven digs, along with nine kills, three service aces and one block assist.
- Joaquin La Jara (Lima, Peru) tallied 31 serve assists (10.33 assists/set) apiece. La Jara also accumulated a kill, and a team-high nine digs for the maroon and gold.
- Andre Cippiciani (Sao Paulo, Brazil) picked up eight kills, two service aces, two digs and a block assist. He also had a team-best .462 hitting percentage.
- Nicholas Santos (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) racked up two kills and two digs for the Spartans.
- David Weiss (Oyten, Germany) accumulated three kills, three digs and two blocks assists.
