St. Thomas Aquinas College Men's Volleyball players Kyran Versteegen and Jannis Freude were each selected for the East Coast Conference's weekly awards on Monday, following the Spartans five-set heartbreaking defeat at Division I Sacred Heart University on Saturday evening.
Versteegen was tabbed as the ECC Player of the Week, while Freude scored ECC Rookie of the Week kudos.
ECC Preseason Player of the Year Versteegen (Sittard, Netherlands) recorded 24 kills with a .302 hitting percentage, 11 digs, four total blocks (1 solo, 3 assisted), and a service ace across five total sets in STAC's loss to the Pioneers.
Freude (Oldenburg, Germany) accumulated 15 kills, nine digs, six total blocks (1 solo, 5 assisted), one assist and four service aces across five total sets in the Spartans' setback at Sacred Heart.
STAC (11-8, 3-0 ECC) next pays a visit to Merrimack College on Friday, March 28 for a 7:00 p.m. match at Hammel Court in North Andover, Massachusetts.
