St. Thomas Aquinas College Men's Volleyball players Gabriel Vieira, Ivaylo Todorov, Marcus Franck and Jannis Freude were each selected for the East Coast Conference's weekly awards on Monday, following the Spartans sweep of matches against D'Youville University (3-0) and Daemen University (3-0) this past weekend.
Viera was tabbed as the ECC Player of the Week, while Todorov took home Defensive Player of the Week, Franck Setter of the Week and Freude Rookie of the Week.
Vieira (Belo Horizonte, Brazil) recorded 29 kills, two service aces, eight digs and four blocks (all assisted) over two match victories in six total sets against the Saints and Wildcats this past weekend. The STAC sophomore outside hitter/opposite hitter also holds a .345 hitting percentage in that span.
Todorov (Aktau, Kazakhstan) recorded 15 digs and an assist over six total sets against D'Youville and Daemen this past weekend.
Franck (Congonhas, Brazil) totaled three kills, 57 assists (9.5 assists/set), four service aces, five digs, and two blocks (1 solo, 1 assisted) over two match victories in six total sets against the Saints and Wildcats this past weekend.
Freude (Oldenburg, Germany) recorded 23 kills, two assists, four service aces, 13 digs and three blocks (all assisted) over two match victories in six total sets against D'Youville and Daemen this past weekend. The STAC freshman opposite hitter/setter also holds a .579 hitting percentage in that span.
STAC (5-6) visits Long Island University on Tuesday, February 18 for a 7:00 p.m. match at the Steinberg Wellness Center in Brooklyn, New York.
