For a second straight week, St. Thomas Aquinas College Men's Volleyball players Gabriel Vieira, Ivaylo Todorov, Marcus Franck and Jannis Freude were each selected for the East Coast Conference's weekly awards on Monday, following the Spartans pair of victories in matches against Long Island University (3-2) and Roberts Wesleyan University (3-0) this past week.
Viera was tabbed as the ECC Player of the Week, while Todorov took home Defensive Player of the Week, Franck Setter of the Week and Freude Rookie of the Week.
Vieira (Belo Horizonte, Brazil) totaled 41 kills, two assists, two service aces, 17 digs and six blocks (1 solo, 5 assisted) over two match victories in eight total sets against the Sharks and ECC foe Redhawks last week. The STAC sophomore outside hitter/opposite hitter also held a .366 hitting percentage in that span.
Todorov (Aktau, Kazakhstan) recorded 14 digs and six assists over eight total sets in wins over LIU and Roberts Wesleyan last week.
Franck (Congonhas, Brazil) totaled six kills, 66 assists (8.25 assists per set), two service aces and 11 digs over two match victories in eight total sets against the Sharks and Redhawks last week
Freude (Oldenburg, Germany) recorded 14 kills, two assists, seven digs, and seven blocks (3 solo, 4 assisted) over two match victories in eight total sets against LIU and Roberts Wesleyan last week. The STAC freshman opposite hitter/setter also held a .231 hitting percentage in that span.
STAC (7-6, 1-0 ECC) hosts Fairleigh Dickinson University on Friday, February 28 at the Spartan Athletic Complex. The Spartans and Knights will tangle in non-conference action beginning at 5:00 p.m. in Sparkill.
