
Sparkill, N.Y. - On Friday, the St. Thomas Aquinas College Men's Volleyball Team welcomed Edward Waters University to the Lower Hudson Valley for a pair of weekend matches at the Spartan Athletic Complex.
In the opener, the host Spartans were stunned early, dropping the first set to the Tigers, before sweeping the next three sets to take a 3-1 victory from the visitors from Jacksonville, Florida.
STAC improves to 2-3 on the season, while Edward Waters drops to 0-2.

How it Happened
- As a team, STAC recorded 53 kills compared to Edward Waters' 43. The Spartans also had 11.5 blocks and 51 assists, while the Tigers tallied 3 blocks and 39 assists.
- St. Thomas Aquinas College outhit Edward Waters by a .330 to .154 margin for the match.
- Gabriel Vieira led the Spartans offense with 23 kills. He also had two service aces, four digs, two solo blocks and five block assists.
- Marcus Franck tallied 37 serve assists (9.25 assists/set). Franck also accumulated six kills, a service ace, seven digs and a block assist for the maroon and gold.
- Jannis Freude recorded 10 kills, two assists, two service aces, 11 digs and a block assist on the evening.
- David Weiss put together a six kill, two assist, two solo block and four block assist effort against the Tigers.
- Nicholas Santos registered three kills, an assist, two digs and a block assist for the Spartans.
- Raoul Kerkdijk picked up two kills and three block assists for STAC on Friday.
