
Sparkill, N.Y. - The top-seeded St. Thomas Aquinas College Men's Volleyball team claimed their second straight East Coast Conference Tournament Championship on Saturday afternoon, with a dominant 3-0 sweep over No. 2 Roberts Wesleyan University, in front of a raucous crowd at the Spartan Athletic Complex.
STAC closes out its 2025 campaign with a 16-9 overall record and a perfect 6-0 ECC mark, while Roberts Wesleyan wraps up its season at 11-18 and 3-3.
In clinching back-to-back conference titles, the Spartans also set a new mark that can only be tied, never broken. St. Thomas Aquinas went 8-0 against conference opponents (6-0 Regular Season and 2-0 Tournament) in 2025, but also never dropped a set to the Chargers, Redhawks and Yellow Jackets (24-0).
Additionally, sophomore outside/opposite hitter Gabriel Vieira was named the tournament's Most Outstanding Player for his exceptional play during both the semifinal and final rounds.

How it Happened
- As a team, STAC recorded 37 kills compared to Roberts Wesleyan's 32. The Spartans also had 7 blocks and 36 assists, while the Redhawks tallied 3 blocks and 32 assists.
- St. Thomas Aquinas College outhit Roberts Wesleyan University by a .525 to .094 margin for the match.
- Gabriel Vieira led the Spartans offense with a match-high 17 kills. He also had two digs and a block assist.
- Marcus Franck tallied 27 set assists (9.0 assists/set). Franck also accumulated four kills, four digs and a block assist for the maroon and gold.
- Jannis Freude picked up seven kills, three assists, five digs and three block assists for STAC on Saturday.
- Kyran Versteegen registered six kills, two assists and a dig for the Spartans.
- David Weiss earned three kills, one assist, two digs, a solo block and four block assists against the Redhawks.
- Ivaylo Todorov accumulated two assists and seven digs over three sets.
- Local product Liam Reinmuth (Suffern, N.Y.) closed out the championship match with a pair of serves that ultimately resulted in the Spartans clinching points.
