The St. Thomas Aquinas softball team lost to Bridgeport, 6-3 and 9-1 on Thursday afternoon in their home opener.  Toni Ann Groth hit a 2 RBI double to score Samantha McDonald and Julie Sosnicki in game one.  Jamie McCormick hit an RBI single in the 7th, scoring Kim Nowak but it was not enough to close the gap for the Lady Spartans.  

The Purple Knights used their power hitting two 2-RBi home runs in the 4th inning to score 4 of their 6 runs.  Bridgeport added a solo homerun in the 5th inning.  Julie Sosnicki took the loss on the mound striking out 5 batters in 7 innings. 

In game two, McDonald scored STAC's only run off an RBI single from Katie Meyers.  Kim Nowak picked up the loss on the mound pitching five innings.  

STAC will return to action on Saturday as they host Queens College at 12:00.
