The St. Thomas Aquinas softball team lost to NYIT, 5-3 and 8-7 on Thursday afternoon.  Samantha McDonald went 4-for-8 with 4 runs and an RBI while Colleen Pagnani went 3-for-7 with 2 runs.  Erin McCarthy went 2-for-4 with a 2 RBI double and an RBI single.

In game one, the Spartans scored all three of their runs in the 3rd inning, highlighted by an RBI single by Kim Nowak.  NYIT used a 4 run 2nd inning to get a lead on the Spartans and Kat Moreno's RBI single in the 7th helped secure the win.  

In the second game of the day, the Bears used an 8 run 6th inning to come from behind after STAC opened up a 6-0 lead.  Sam McDonald hit an RBI single to score Brittany Mangan who also reached with a single.  Nowak and McDonald hit singles and were driven home by McCarthy's double.  Malloy late RBI in the 7th to score McDonald brought STAC within one but it was not enough to get the win.  

The Spartans will play at Mercy College on Saturday at 12:00 noon.
